not liking season 6
too long, drawn out, boring. im tuning out.
shareI am liking season 6 overall. For the most part the stories have been good, hitting the right amounts of plot and character development and absurdity.
However, though I like the running story lines I do wish they would throw in a couple random sketches as well per episode to break it up a bit.
Agree. While I see scattered approval on the board, it seems to me the single-story development is evidence they are struggling to keep pace coming up with numerous ideas per show anymore.
They are now ripping through entire episodes with one well-worn concept, often choosing one that is not particularly enjoyable. Even the scattered audience approval is bizarre to me: new episodes seem increasingly reliant on cross-dressing bits (like the worst of Monty Python) and employ the most tired plots. "Lance is Smart" (S07E09), with its singular concept, its familiar characters, cross-dressing and public-domain-generic romance story must be the worst episode since I began watching.
What happened to the angry cyclists? The indecisive/polite drivers? The insecurity about living in Seattle's shadow? The aversion to your 'scene' becoming popular? The bizarre intersection of Portland with Business? The music culture?
It feels like this is the beginning of the end with the creativity clearly sliding. I guess it still brought years of entertainment.
seattle is over.

Is it really? I wonder if Portland is now the Seattle that the citizens of Portlandia feared?
It seems so wasted that they are not even mentioning to my knowledge how much Portland has changed and how the types of characters living in Portlandia could no longer afford to live in the real Portland of today. That would be an interesting idea...or maybe not...we can't pay the rent is not very fun to watch. It could show the characters moving to Olympia or Spokane or Boise or maybe packing up and accepting a job in Houston.
Same thing happened to Monty Python's Flying Circus in season 4.
