If there was no sign of forced entry when Kristi's & Daniel's home was ransacked. Only the vhs tapes were gone. I'm assuming 'Tobi' took them, if so, is he watching the tapes & why?
shareParamount took the tapes and have so far made a bundle of cash from the contents of said tapes. They did however pass on the vacation and barbecue activity tapes and went with the paranormal ones.

Someone is watching the tapes....watch pa3 again....at the beginning the guy from pa2 said that the only thing missing is the box of tapes. Then it cuts to the 1988 cast but instead of it saying "rec" it says "play" on the screen. Also there were svhs tapes in that box and we've yet to see anyone using those so we know that there will be more of the past in our future!
shareI think the tapes were taken to prevent Kristi or any other potentially curious family member from seeing the past hauntings of 1988.
If you think about it, the demonic entity had to wait 17 years after 1988 for the first son of the family line; since the 1930s!!! So with that out, 70ish years of waiting for the first son of a bloodline since a contract, Toby wasn't going to allow some tapes to *beep* it up for him.
The missing necklace, was the very one worn in the 1930s photo of the demon worshiping cult of women. They worship and contracted demons for wealth. That symbol on their necklace was the sign of their cult, hence why it was taken; to conceal the truth and past so hunter would be easy pickings.
Maybe he's nostalgic ;)
