the entire premise is that a group of hags(witches) made a deal with some demon that the demon could have the first born male of the family.
but this plan is flawed for one major reason
there is no way the demon would know if the daughters would be able to have children or not.
the only other explanation is that the demons can control and make sure but if thats the case they would have had a male child earlier
I agree, but maybe you should look at the demon as an investor betting on the market. Just like most investors, it wouldn't know for sure how the stock/industry/daughters etc would perform, but perhaps it made its calculations and thought the possible returns outweighed the costs. A flawed plan for sure but not unattainable : )
And soon of course someone will post some demon portfolio analysis that shoots down what I wrote above.
Like the other poster said, it was more of a bet on probabilities. With several women born into the family chances are likely one of them will bear a male child eventually.
