What's more, the post-War history of MI7 and up has never been revealed. All that's officially acknowledged is that they were wound up "after 1945". In The Human Factor, which was written and set in 1973, Graham Greene (who'd been involved with the secret services himself) includes a scene in which a bunch of fairly senior MI6 people discuss the higher MIs - and even THEY don't know whether they're still going or not!
I've seen my grandfather's Top Secret clearance. It says "MI11" under the signature, and it's dated 1953 - so MI11 was clearly still going at that point. (Maybe MI10 wasn't, because that's the branch my grandfather had been with during the War. Unfortunately, I know very little about his service, as he died long before I was born. The family were aware that he was an intelligence operative but knew better than to ask questions.)
