Episode 3 - drivel

First off, the glaring props mistakes that I spotted - and I'm sure others would find more
1, a Radiomobile car radio from the 60s in 1956
2, a carpet of the 60s in the flat of Lyons
3, a lightswitch of the 60s in the flat of Lyons
4, telephone poles with modern multi-core wires on them (a different camera angle could have missed them entirely).

The dreadful fight scene on the stairwell, where we are meant to believe a 90lb weakling overpowered a professional assassin, who then topped himself rather than spill the beans. I was shouting at the telly.
Utter tosh.

5, the telephones themselves, GPO Type 706, introduced 1959 ...
Should be 300 series (the big square ones) or even 200 series
(the pyramid - shaped ones) ...

Ok but the things that actually matter (pacing, acting, dialogue, cinematography) were all superb. If you notice all those things then get out of the house.

Also 'amnesty' was not one of the words in that weeks Evening Standard crossword puzzle ;-) But who is nitpicking...

Sorry if anyone has mentioned this but as Freddie keeps calling Bel Moneypenny, did Ian Fleming's novels appear in the 50's or 60's or before. I know Dr No appeared in 1962 but we are not even in the early 60's in The Hour yet. Does keep reinforcing the spy thing as well.

I think it's nice when they get the details right and if you can spot anachronisms it can take you right out of the moment, but I think most people wouldn't notice those things as they are very small details.

What a nerd.

The only bit I agree with you on is that it's a bit hard to buy Freddie wrestling Kish into submission. Especially after they gave us a scene earlier in this ep of him half naked which just accentuated how scrawny he is.

But as another poster said all the things like pacing, mood, and acting were spot on. Check out the scene between Ben Wishaw and Burn Gorman over coffee. Some great acting from both of them.
