Camille Is So Underdeveloped

She's just a character foil for Freddie and Bel to get together. They completely underused her character and did't flesh her out so I felt nothing. I feel like this second season the political intrigue is really good but the emotional elements of the show are lacking.

You got no understanding of Why Freddie and Camille got married and loved each other to begin with, and whenever Freddie interacted with her it was so lackluster. It didn't help that whenever Camille and Bel were in the same shot together Bel looked much more glamorous whereas Camille looked mousy.

Actually, she's more of a foil to keep them apart, imo. The show would be over if Bel married Freddie, quit and had Gilbert and Maude - I'm not sure of the exact position the Beeb had on working wives/ mothers, but even by the late 50s it would probably not be that enlightened. Even Freddie the Radical keeps his wife at home all day, so bored she can't summon the presence of mind to put her own trousers on.

I agree, though, I would have liked to see her doing more as a member of the CND etc, it would be a good foil to Freddie who is protesting, yet also compromising, with his work. As much as I started this series wanting F&B, I can't help feeling it might be a bit predictable?

And more to the point, why isn't glamorous and beautiful Bel **on** the telly? How likely would it be that someone like her would not have been scooped for interviewing/ presenting? It seems bizarre.

I don't think they're supposed to be together either, at least not in this or even next season. If they got together I'm sure they would just settle being friends anyway. Their relationship functions best as friends. If you think of Mulder and Scully on X-Files it's a similar position.

Bel could totally be in front of the camera. Maybe we might see an episode wherein she has to step in at the last minute and ends up wooing audiences?

In regards to Camille, if they weren't going to expand on her character they could have at least used her as a foil for Freddie. We could have seen Freddie trying to balance his work life with his married life but we never saw this. That is why I thought Camille was completely underused.

I believe that Freddie marrying Camille was his "rash decision" when his father died. I watched Series 2 again and it hit me that when Brown was talking to Freddie about how he bought a boat when his father died, it was the same thing that Freddie did in marrying Camille. He made a quick decision without thinking it through or thinking about the consequences.

I like your point. Makes sense.

They could have at least bought her a pair of pants.
