Is Hillary even a designer?

She's got a complete IMDB page. She's listed as an actress. She was in "Rocky Horror Picture Show", "The Greatest American Hero", and other shows. My wife loves the show, but I think she's just reading a script.

IMDb routinely lists anyone who "performs" on a television show as an actor, even if they appear in another professional function, such as a designer or a chef.

Hilary is indeed a real designer.

Initially interested in pursuing theater, her first dabbling with interior design came from helping her mother hunt down unexpected pieces of art and other accessories to decorate her childhood home. She landed part-time jobs in Los Angeles, when she first started renovating homes as well as various film and television show sets. Farr previously bought various properties and renovated them. Farr has designed properties in various countries throughout the world, including Australia and United Kingdom, as well as California and New York in the United States. Farr also has renovated homes for notable celebrities, including Jenna Elfman's home and Jennifer Hudson's loft in Chicago. She serves as president of Hilary Farr's Designs, established in Toronto and in New York. You can check out her design site by going to hilaryfarrdesign.com

Acting under the name Hilary Labow (her maiden name), Farr has indeed made small appearances in movies such as Layout for 5 Models (1972), Sex Farm (1973), Never Mind the Quality, Feel the Width (1973), Legend of the Werewolf (1975), The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975), City on Fire (1979) and The Return (1980). As of late, she chooses to pursue her true passion: design.

Anybody can be an HGTV designer: rip out interior walls, paint remaining interior walls all stark white, replace original windows with plastic Home Depot windows, replace original floors with fake "pictures of wood" flooring, gut kitchen and rebuild for 5-star restaurant use, build gigantic bathroom for six simultaneous users, and finally, fill shelves with books-by-the-pound put in backwards.
