Is it weird that I agree that it's the best movie I saw this year and yet simultaneously admit that there's nothing Oscar-worthy about it?

Unless it deserves worse ratings. Metacritic, with 29 reviewers has a tepid 58/100. Except for Pacino and Cannavale, the movie was lazy and without direction. See my review at Ruthless for more details. I was hard on it, but Fogelman deserved it, he just phoned it in.

I don't even think that Jeff Bridges could have helped this one. Pacino was fine, it was Fogelman who could not decide if he wanted the movie to be naughty or nice and it just ended up being boring and predictable.
