Much darker tones given that the accused did not have any redeeming features this time around. Stalker/thief/liar/cheat etc! Very well played by Andy Serkis though.

Ok he had gambling debts (big deal?) but certainly nothing to justify why he would go from being a petty thief, to suddenly taking on the role of fantasist/lover, unless he had reached a self imposed "breaking point" where he thought to himself, what the hell?

Episode five not looking like it's going to be too cheery!

McGovern set his personal record this time. He had me already upset at minute 7 (the burglary), then I bawled my eyes out until the end. this episode was the least realistic (come on girl, cotton on to the fact he knows TOO much stuff about you!) but the one where you felt most for the poor sod.

I found her stupidity too unrealistic. He was the only one who knew she was going on holiday....he knew her house was empty.....then she comes back to find her house burgled! Obviously its him! Duh! Because the first thing the police asks is did you tell anyone untrustworthy you were going on holiday (empty house!).
She told family and friends, and a creepy stranger, obviously it was the taxi driver! (Creepy stranger). Then her usb diary goes missing and all of a sudden this creepy strsnger knows everything about her, I think even a 10 year old would work out it was him!

What I can't work out is why an intelligent, successful middle class woman would be interested in that rough looking, slightly odd taxi driver who clearly hasn't got two pennies to rub together?

Kornology: I think the stroke of genius there was casting the amazing Andy Serkis as the taxi driver: he's no oil painting but he has always had an odd magnetism (try him in the Ian Dury biopic). It made it believabe. I cheered when they ended up in bed.
However,the girl was feeling "lonely" and "vulnerable" so that also played a big part; she felt unloved and he made her feel loved. Basic human mechanisms.
