Now that I've seen all eight episodes

After watching only the first two episodes, I wrote another post titled "What the Point." I haven't changed my mind about that, but I can say there's an awful lot of filler and pregnant pauses and long looks with no dialogue, stretching what was a tight two-hour movie into a nearly eight-hour slog. Also, the ending was slightly different from the movie, but I won't include a spoiler here.

I can remember reading the book, but it was so long ago that I can't remember how it ended. Can anyone who has read it and remembers it fill me in on that?

It was mostly the same as the movie….except the end was drawn out a little more with extra stuff happening

Yes. I liked that the series format allowed more time to develop all the characters, but they could have cut it down by a lot. Barbara's near-affair could have been left out completely, along with Raymond's nightmares and all those many minutes where nothing really happens.
