You know what would REALLY be a good twist? MAJOR SPOILERS

At this point in film history, I would be shocked - in a good way- if the chasers/killers turned out to be real, if it turned out that she was in legitimate danger, if at the end we found out, it was all real and not in her head, if they didn't use the old tired "she was molested and these scenes of horror were merely psychological manifestations" ending and just stuck to a survival horror concept. The idea of it being done in one take, even if it only looked like it was one take and was actually ten or something, was great. The cinematography was great. The scary chase scenes were for the most part great and even gave me some thrills and chills. But the ending was the biggest let down for me in a while. It really sucks being a fan of horror these days.

Now you mention it, I wonder if that was part of the point. Did the filmmakers think that because the movie was filmed in one shot that we would assume the danger was real? So the twist was that it was psychological?

I like the psychological aspect but I wish it was done differently.

The problem in horror movies is the ending or the "revelations".

The first part of horror movies are usually really nice, its start slow, you dont know what exactly is happening, you guess, you are wondering how it will turn out.

Then, they must finally reveal something, the monster, the killer, the plot, something.

Very few movies do it right. Maybe it's because every viewer have his/her own idea and it dont meet their expectation...

Totally agree.

The first time she gets out of the house and we're led to believe it was a movie about some psycho squatter who'd been living in her house, I really liked it.

As soon as the Uncle shows up and insists they return to the house, I knew I was in for some silly twist.

They filmed it, found out that the whole thing was *beep* so insured the film with a stupid twist.

I actually uttered 'Oh no!' aloud when that overused twist was revealed.

Very lazy writing. I can literally count half a dozen recent films that used this same twist.

The lone neon lights and the ache of the ocean
And the fire that was starting to go out...

Yeah I agree, there are loads of films that use this twist.

However there are only one or two generic tedious slasher films. No, wait...

Completely agree. At this point, that actually would be a good twist. The whole 'it was all in the character's head' thing is so tired now. Such a let down.

I too would have liked it more if there really was a killer in the house and she was trying to escape him/her.

I agree completely, I think that her coming to terms with repressed childhood memories would have been fine if there really was a psycho killer in the house with her. The whole film I thought was great especially when it comes to atmosphere, at least until it got to the end where the lights go out and she wakes up to find her uncles been knocked unconscious.
