Were the uncle and dad even there? SPOILERS

Were the uncle and dad even really there? When she walks out the front door and the camera shows the inside of the house there are no bodies in the room that we see. Unless, of course, it's a different room, but I dont think so because it's the room with the fire place, right? Any reply is appreciated. Thanks!

I giggle when I get attacked for my opinion, because it just doesn't make sense

I do think they were there because she finally gets some "closure". It was more than her just going to the house alone and going crazy with suppressed memories. It is unlikely she'd go alone anyway. Remember she said she hadn't been there since she was a little girl and they never came back? This is her first time back with the dad and uncle alone, and all the repressed memories came flooding back to her.

One thing that kind of made me wonder was when the father said that her cousins didn't want to come to the house to help clean it up, so i was wondering if maybe he was abusing her cousins as well?

It would make sense, if they were abused by him as children that they would not want to have anything to do with him at all.

Yeah, after that last shot I really don't think they were there. Just her visiting the house and going through all those memories and imagining herself taking revenge. I'm surprised not many people caught on the empty living room shot at the end.

"The house itself is also labyrinthine for the same reason of being “Sarah’s mind”. She gets lost in it the same way we do. In fact, during the Q&A a fan asked if he had misunderstood the ending as he did not see the bodies in a room Sarah walked away from as she left the house. They responded that the bodies were still in the room where she had left them but that she walked through another room before leaving the house. Thus the architecture of the house had confused that guest just as much as it had originally confused Sarah."

Someone already posted the link explaining this, but I'm pretty sure the room with the fireplace was adjacent to the room (entry way) where the front door is. Two separate rooms/areas.

EDIT: Just rewatched the ending, and it seems like the room where the dad/uncle were has a fireplace, as does the entry way where the front door is. But if you rewatch it, she clearly walks from one room to the other. So still different rooms/areas.

You are killing me! Thanks for that. Where can I find more of your work?

P.S. Technically I didn't make it through once. I fast forwarded quite a bit and was just as confused as those who watched all of it. Plus for me!

Unveiling my first ever signature... Now where did I set my drink?
