I can't be the only one to notice this at the end

SPOILERS OBVIOUSLY.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

When Fungus Bob is trying to hit Odd & he tells him the dead can't physically harm a living person. Yet later in the end, when Stormy had died, he & her are all touchy feely, hanging out for who knows how long, we see him touching her leg & then kissing her before she leaves. So, the dead can't 'harm' people but they can kiss them? This movie was filled with dumb stuff but that stuck out like a sore thumb. It's like the writers totally ignored a rule just to trick the audience.

You're not the only one who noticed. I still love the movie, though.

Movie was freaking awesome! And just think of it this way. Acts of harm you cannot touch. Acts of love you can.

This is correct according to the books; Odd can see and physically interact with the dead, but they never speak and cannot physically harm the living. The dead can go "poltergeist" - essentialy a spiritual temper tantrum - and the debris could injury the living. In these cases, as soon as the temper tantrum is over the spirit seems to forget about it (much like a toddler)

If it was NOT in his head and ghosts can touch/kiss as long as they don't harm, then fungus Bob could kiss Odd all day and annoy the *beep* out of him... think about it for a moment... being kissed by fungus Bob ALL the time.

Shouldn't the ghostly thingies kill him or something, btw? Now they know he knows they know he sees them. ;)

The scene with Odd and ghost Stormy is mostly all in his head, so it's all illusion and him making it feel real

reply

Yeah, I was thinking this as well.

reply

It was only real in his head.

Your point has merit. But the book ended the same way, and it was very moving.
