Plot hole so large you can drive a truck through

I love the Scream films, warts and all. But this movie had such a large plot hole in it that I cannot get over.

Richie's father somehow went the whole movie without getting recognized or called out for, you know, being a serial killer's father. This is the 2020's. The father of a serial killer wouldn't exactly be anonymous. Even if Richie used a fake name, this would be discovered once the police looked into his past.

This is why the movie has exactly one police officer in the whole movie. Because he would immediately be removed from the case and called out by his superiors. "Hey the same girl that killed your son is now being stalked, you better sit this one out. Plus you are a suspect"

Not to mention the best investigative reporter in the world wrote a whole book about the murders and somehow didn't know the police officer helping them was Richie's father.
