Does the change of setting really make a difference?
One of the selling point of the movie is that it takes place in New York.

shareYes, the convenience store scene, subway scene and alley scene would've felt out of place in a town like Woodsboro, but felt right at home in NY city.
shareIt really doesn't. They easily could have left it in Woodsboro and had them attend a community college there. Other than the three scenes the user above me mention that are New York City worthy, they don't represent the rest of the movie and do very little to make it useful. Those scenes kind of come off forced anyway BECAUSE it's in NYC and we HAVE to have those scenes in there. But take those out, the movie doesn't change that much and you can buy the setting still working in Woodsboro. The only reason to have it in NYC is because Gale was there and she needed to be in the story. But given how the college aspects plays no role here, the kids were best just being on vacation during the summertime or something. Setting it during Halloween also did nothing for the story which is a hit and miss because Scream is BASED on Halloween and they even had the trend of the recent Halloween movies to play off of.
shareNo. Still the same generic crap. They just wanted to get it out of Whitesboro so they could inject the diversity for “modern audiences.” 🙄
shareThe prob is they dont do anything utilize the NY setting for cool kills.
shareNo. They could have been in any big city at all.
They didn’t really add a lot of New York or utilize anything to make it stand out as nyc. It was pretty generic
