Everything Stallone learned to make Rambo IV work he lost with this.

Rambo IV was much smarter than most "one man Army films". Expendables 2 was a cartoon. An entertaining cartoon but a type of film that you could walk out of the room for ten minutes and come back and just wait for the next explosion.

At the time I felt Rambo IV missed it. This one is spot on what it is marketed to be: over the top violence, never ending clips of ammo (except for when we need to get the story to move along), semi-cool one liners and action(s) beyond explainability.

People hating this film because of the acting, plot, script and credibility did NOT live in the 80's or understand what this movie is about. In fact, I believe it may be better than the first installment of this franchise.

Its much better then the first installment. The first one was cheap, poorly directed and took itself too seriously. This sequel is what the first one should have been. A lighter hearted tone with some quotable one-liners, some nice homages, plenty of consistent action and far better pacing. This one re-captures the glory of the 80s, the first one didnt even come close.

Say 'No' to rubber generic Robots as seen in RoboCop 2014

The first one was like a modern action film. Quick cuts, shakycam ect. Director's cut is better than theatrical but still it doesn't remind 80s action films. Ex2 is probably the closest movie to the 80s of course until Ex3 comes out. Which I hope is going to be directed like the second one (I don't care if it's more serious than Ex2 I just want the action scenes to look like in the 80s not like in Jason Bourne films).
