Awesome movies, but too many good guys

I love The Expendables movies, but one thing that I find ridiculous is how many of the great action stars play good guys. Excluding the main threats, the rest of the villains are nameless, useless, redshirts. It would have made more sense and been more suspenseful if half the actors played villains, instead of the nameless cannon fodder henchmen they went with in the movies.
