It produces films like this one, where everything is NOTHING like how it used to be. We'd all be better off not trying to relive our childhoods and embrace these actors that have something to offer in current action films. Escape Plan looks more relevant and interesting than this crappy metacinema.
couldn't agree more all those references to their films (among many things) was a bit sad. Sly ran out of ideas and started copying himself...it's not the way.
naaa horrible film horrible acting horrible script horrible action stallone just lost it, kid i am not paying money for sly films anymore, just watch them for free and still trash them
Sly ran out of ideas? yee of little faith. This is a man who can write story lines that make millions at the box office. He has proven that over and over again. So not to worry he hasn't run out of ideas. These sequals the Expendables are just slap shot fun entertaining movies. It's not meant to be war of the roses.
I know it's not war of the roses (which I don't like I must say) but I wasn't expecting that. Yesterday night I watched The Last Stand, and it was a great action film.
The (I was impressed by) cast delivered a very good acting, even when the story wasn't a Lynch film, every single one did very well. The only nostalgia Joke, was Conan related and it was even funny.
Stallone here just put all the good old quotes from their movies. It wasn't necessary. He put all the cliches and tried to wrap it up as a new film. Very stupid move. I am a big fan of Sly, but Arny did a better job this time.
And I am not gonna give him a break, he gets pay accordingly to put up with critics, and definitely he can do better.
I agree. The movie was terrible. The over the top action (Arnie ripping the door off the car, managing to evade being hit by like 30 guys but still managing to hit most of them). It was completely ridiculous.
When you compare it to T1, T2, Rocky, Predator etc. it was soooo lame. Even in movies like the Terminator and Predator where there were cyborgs and aliens running around there was still a bit of realism. The Expendables series just takes that and throws it out the window. really lame.
