Question, Please No Spoilers

I started playing this game when it first came out but lost time for it. I just started playing it again (by starting over). I'm at the point where you are promoted from homicide to Vice. Now my question is...

Homocide seems so much more interesting to me. I'm not sure how the police system actually works or if certain departments are higher ranked or not (like when they said I was PROMOTED to vice) but doesn't it seem as though homocide should basically be the "main event".

I was wondering if I can look forward to as fun cases in vice as I did in homocide.

Thanks

Sadly, IMO, the answer is no. For me the game peaked at Homicide for all the right reasons, the right mix of clue-hunting, suspect questioning, the odd shoot-out or chase, the best partner and Captain that you report to, and a great conclusion I felt.

Vice to me wasn't as enjoyable, the over-arching storyline you'll learn about isn't quite as enthralling as the Dahlia killer, though I thought he was hilarious and very well acted, most here don't seem to like Roy Earle (your vice partner, for reasons apparent later on), and the cases just didn't seem quite as interesting to me.

Much the same for the final desk. Would have loved more homicide cases.

Unfortunately, that's what I thought. I have the feeling Roy Earle is a dirty cop. Having said that, whether he turns out to be or not, I just simply find the dialogue with Galloway much more interesting.

I just finished the part in vice where you chase the guy down in the ice warehouse. I just don't have that dire need to play the game like I did when I was in homocide.

There were certainly some corny moments (like when the chandelier was falling) during the homocide cases but overall I find it was much more interesting.

Thanks for the response.

I know what you mean about not having that need to play through once you get to Vice. I had the same thing. The Homicide cases were intriguing and the gameplay was at it's strongest, you wanted to play through it, find the answers and the perp in the end, but from then on the whole game went back a gear and it wasn't as enjoyable.

I'm currently on my second play through after my first one not long after the game came out and I agree that the gameplay does reach its peak during the homicide cases.

However, I'll say this, Phelps' story (as told through the flashbacks & the cut scenes) is pretty damn good, as is what his character does (that you have no control over) in the cut scenes later in the game. And have you been "reading" the newspapers throughout the game? If not, I suggest you do. They provide somewhat of a back story to events that unfold in the latter stages of the game.
