The movie didn't show us any more than him being arrested. Compared to what happened to the other two I'm sure he'd rather be sitting in the pen than dead. Although I believe Brad Pitt and friends could have him killed while locked up, too.
It wasn't a random bust, such as a dog sniffing out the drugs. The police were ready for him and when he approached the bus station they said something like, "There he is." If a dog had smelled it and they were just waiting on someone to show up, they wouldn't have known who the guy was until he opened the locker. I got the impression that the older guy who set up the card game robbery, Johnny Amato, set him up but I'm not sure why.

It might have been a rat, but it could still have been a dog sniffing about.
Cameras are everywhere. They realize the dog keyed on that locker, review the footage, see him put the dope in, and now everyone knows who to look for.
