Bay

I've started watching the show and it seems Bay is getting a raw deal. The parents are fighting over Daphne and centre of attention. Kind of understandable from Kathryn and John. However Regina seems to have no interest in Bay at all which has got to hurt.

Please tell me it gets better.

Regina is always about Daphne. She has little Bay moments, but its really all about Daphne for her. Pisses me off. Especially since she knew all those years and hired a freaking PI guy and now, she HAS Bay in her life and still, doesn't seem to want to try to get close to her like the Kennishes do with Daphne. Makes no sense.

Well that sucks. Bay does come across as a bit of a brat however she doesn't deserve to be sidelined. From the first episode Bay says she never felt quite right like she didn't belong and now its like there is a real space for her in either family.

You are right. There is a real space for her. It's sad to watch. My heart goes out to her in every episode.

At the same time Bay is going through all of this, Emmett is going through his parents' divorce, and he felt such space between himself and his mom, and between himself and his dad and Olivia, that he was in a similar boat.

At one time, I thought that was the common thread that would allow Bay and Emmett to form their own family at a young age. I thought the fact they both felt alienated from their nuclear families would encourage them to form a lasting bond with each other.

But it wasn't meant to be. SPOILER AHEAD, IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED SEASON TWO.

The writers decided to give that story to Toby, not once, but twice. It's boring as all get out, because the writers have done nothing to make me care about the character or Toby or his relationships since Season 1. But it IS Toby who will do the marriage and young family thing, a couple of times now.

Bay and Emmett? Not at all.

This topic has come up over and over again throughout the show's run, because it's totally true. Part of it I think is that Kathryn is naturally more outgoing and is sort of in her own "territory" whereas a part of Regina has always felt like a guest on the Kennish property and is more concerned about overstepping. But I do think Regina could have reached out to Bay more, especially in the beginning.

They do have their moments as the series goes on, and at one point Bay moves in with Regina so it gets a little better. But even now, it seems like Daphne is closer to the Kennishes than Bay is to Regina.

What the hell is a Stiles?
