Well that sucks. Bay does come across as a bit of a brat however she doesn't deserve to be sidelined. From the first episode Bay says she never felt quite right like she didn't belong and now its like there is a real space for her in either family.
You are right. There is a real space for her. It's sad to watch. My heart goes out to her in every episode.
At the same time Bay is going through all of this, Emmett is going through his parents' divorce, and he felt such space between himself and his mom, and between himself and his dad and Olivia, that he was in a similar boat.
At one time, I thought that was the common thread that would allow Bay and Emmett to form their own family at a young age. I thought the fact they both felt alienated from their nuclear families would encourage them to form a lasting bond with each other.
But it wasn't meant to be. SPOILER AHEAD, IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED SEASON TWO.
The writers decided to give that story to Toby, not once, but twice. It's boring as all get out, because the writers have done nothing to make me care about the character or Toby or his relationships since Season 1. But it IS Toby who will do the marriage and young family thing, a couple of times now.
Bay and Emmett? Not at all.
