A dead horse

I really don't want to bring Tank up again, but this show really lost what made it special after that. It's not the only thing that made me bored with the show, but it didn't help.

For me, Switched at Birth lost its magic when Tank first appeared. Season 3 should have featured Emmett again. He had played a minor role for too long. The writers could have explored his friendship with Daphne or with the adults, if the writers did not want to pair him with Bay, immediately following her breakup with Ty. But the writers needed to feature Emmett again. It was time. Emmett deserved a strong point of view.

Since Katie Leclerc's Meniere's Disease has not yet motivated her to become a part of Deaf culture, Sean Berdy is the more authentic actor, of the original young actors on this TV series. Emmett's character and his voice was vital to the continuity of Switched at Birth, and the writers' decision to ignore Emmett for so long killed their ratings, and ultimately, their TV series.

A year later, when Tank returned yet again, it was already too late to save the TV series, but yes, exploring the sexual consent storyline was another nail in the Switched at Birth coffin. Longtime viewers and fans didn't want social issues taking precedence over the characters and their development, but the writers ignored us.

Tank was good but badly managed later. I like the actor, good uses of facial impressions. Someone was needed to pair up with Toby after Wilkes left. It's the political correctness storylines and omission of Emmett what killed the shows. I never understood the writers obsession with PC when other shows have covered it to the death.
