Completely annoyed with Daphne.
I've watched the whole series so far and recently started rewatching season 1, and all I can say is I am so sick of Daphne. She makes everything about "poor me, my life is awful and it's everyone's fault."
shareIn all fairness... she really got screwed over in life. She was supposed to grow up as a rich girl. But instead she grew up in the hood and lost her hearing. She has the right to complain, lol.
shareI agree with you partially. Although she lost out on lots of things she would have been born in to, she also received other great things she might never have experienced. The hearing loss was bad and had only happened because of the switch but at some point people need to get over the wrong that might have been done to them and move forward.
shareBut she's actually not as pissed off as a person would be in real life. She's being very calm. The deaf storyline aside... I grew up poor too, so I would have killed somebody if I found out that I was supposed to live in a household that could afford the cereals that I see in the commercials.
shareI mean, I understand where you're coming from, as I grew up poor myself. But I think throwing a temper tantrum about being switched just because you didn't grow up as rich as you should've is a little simplistic and immature. I would be frustrated, yes, but ultimately growing up poor taught me a lot about hard work, responsibility, gratefulness and being humble. Whenever I've watched this show I've always liked Daphne more than Bay-she has a good head on her shoulders most of the time and isn't spoiled. If I were her I would be grateful because finding your rich parents who want to pay for your college education is a blessing in itself. Yes, you got cheated, but it's a bit much to assume that you would trade the people in your life just to be rich. Idk.
