What this Little Wayne issue reminds me of...

It reminds me of the issues that arose from that new disney princess movie kid's costume. The rock's character. The character is buff, has tattoos and where a grass skirt (no shirt). The costume has mostly padding with the character's skin tone (obviously not white) amd tattoos with the skirt. This got a LOT of hate, calling it racist. And Disney pulled the costume.

But how were they suppose to make the costume? I don't see anything wrong with it. If it was white, they would've been on called white washing (which would've been right).

This plot reminds me a lot of that. Both would be racist if it was a costume of a race. But costumes of characters/people are different, in my opinion. As long as you aren't doing horrible things like black face and/or using the character/person to mock that culture.

Thoughts?

Don't know about the Disney costume, but I agree with your last two sentences. Lil Wayne is an icon, and Mingo copied his iconic look. The fact that he's black is irrelevant.
