The Film Got Annoying After a While

I really liked the flow of the movie when it started, the long spaces between dialogue, the non-cliche story elements. But after a while, I just started grinding on me. These characters acted without any motivation; they get mad at each other, then move on... then (with no reason) they just try to get back together... then they go apart... then, again, with no reason, they go back to each other. Even in the most cliche "Hollywood" films, they're at least give a character some MOTIVATION.

I know they're trying to make a "realistic" film but this isn't realistic - at all. Hell, most people don't have the guts to end a terrible marriage or relationship, they just suffer through. Or, if they do, they don't keep getting back together over and over again, especially halfway around the world.

You don't need a big happy ending wedding scene, no way, but nobody acts like this where you just "decide" to go back with the ex while you are currently happy with the new girlfriend/boyfriend. They didn't give any reason why they wanted to get back together, not even a flashback of the happier times that would lead you to think that. Then, they don't give you any reason why they're miserable together.

The characters weren't even likeable. They got a couple "montage" happy scenes together but there was no real bond with them. The dialogue all felt so forced and tried to feel like it was natural and improved but it just got to feel clumsy after a while.

And I know they were trying to avoid being a cliche romantic movie but they used more cliches than the average Hollywood one. They get married... didn't work out... then hey, her new guy wants to marry her... doesn't work out. They keep getting married like it's super casual, again, not very realistic.

Well said this is stupid, bland and boring movie.Jacob and Anna they got zero chemistry they didn't look happy at all with each other. I wished they had moved on with their new partners and end this head ache of a movie i couldn't have cared less.

Honestly I stopped watching a third of the way through, I found it a boring, terrible film.

"Realistic" films tend to miss the mark on actual reality -- they get the atmosphere right, but it's poseur-ish. Once you move aside whatever feelings that favor the situation given by the narrative it doesn't stand on its merits.

Agreed. The two main characters had no chemistry. The dude and Jennifer Lawrence did so that was at least abit realistic.
