No, the moral of the story is this...


Both characters made stupid mistakes. First Anna because she overstayed her visa (but that can be understood, she was too much in love), then Jacob, who didn't want to move to UK, even if he easily could have done it, and work his job there too.

But the problem wasn't the above mistakes. The true "crime" so to speak was that they both were dishonest azzholes to each other and kept lying and lying until the end.

So the moral of the story is don't be a dishonest prick to your loved ones at least. Lying and not being true to yourself breaks relationships more than anything.

While that is feasible, I don't think it was because she was "too much in love." I think it was because she came from an affluent European family and figured those kinds of rules wouldn't apply to her.
