Am I the only person who doesn't think they broke up??
I have to agree that these two seem a bit immature throughout the movie and make their fair share of mistakes, but they are young (right out of college) and I would expect those mistakes from anyone living in a larger city like LA and working in creative fields (both of them).
What people continue to miss is the bond they have since the beginning on the movie. This bond is something you can find in next to no one in life and it's a bond that continues to bring them back together. I think this bond is called love. It's not just being in love as we see 'in love' wears the duration of the movie but it's a bond deep down that with communication will keep two people together forever. These two have that bond and can continue to look elsewhere, but you will never find that bond again.
The ending of the movie isn't a breakup (I mean in all fairness it could be interpreted either way) but I see it as a piece where this bond that holds the couple together continues to do so and once the shock of the move and everything wears off these two will continue to find that bond through stubbornness, love, happiness, etc.
These two have love and support, it's not always tickling and the first time you meet in love, but it goes further than that and I see it in this relationship.
I know this is in depth, but I guess with some real world experience applied and not just all the fluffy movie romance, I think this relationship to me feels as real as any I've seen in the majority of movies I've watched. Love takes time and energy, not just being in love and happy, but a lot of other factors play in.
Love this movie! RIP Anton, such an amazing young actor. A true inspiration.
