Similarities with other films

After reading the plot, I realize that this film's plot is similar with two other films: Steven Spielberg's "Hook" and Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland", as both serve as a 'sequel' to the original classic story, in which the protagonist of the original story has grown up but has lost touch with the fantasy world that they are associated with, and must return to it not only to save it, but also reclaim the innocence they had lost while growing up.

Also, someone had mentioned in another thread that this film is also a debate on fantasy vs. reality, making it similar to "Life of Pi", as it is also about struggling to survive and abandoning your innocence while growing up, while leaving for debate on whether certain events are real or fantasy.
