Should have been called The Little Girl
Because we spend more time with her than the Little Prince, the story focuses more on her and so do the film posters and trailer...

shareWould you prefer to see a movie called Dorothy, or The Wizard of Oz? Branding has always been important. Like with Oz, I found the little girl more interesting than the title character, and that's what counts.
shareWell then they should have called it something else that didn't imply that it was a faithful adaptation of one of the world's most popular books - and which, in the book, is very much focussed on the Little Prince.
shareBetter off rereading the book. That movie makes France sad. :(

Like what? The Little Prince 2? Finding Prince? The Anxty Adolescent Prince? In some ways it really was faithful in that it covered all of the original material but modernized with a non-linear timeline that I felt actually improved the story. They even stuck to the overtly Christian death-denying ending which I wish they hadn't done. And like all remakes/adaptations, the lovers of the originals shouldn't feel as if anyone did anything to them or their memories because the originals still exist just like they ever were. When you don't like them, don't take offense. Just ignore them.

The book wasn't linear at all and how does the girl story improve the story? My point was that the non-linear timeline improved it. A girl just adds something newish.
What makes you feel the ending of the book is "overtly Christian"?Just the whole die-and-go-to-heven thing, especially when you get someone else to do it to you (snake).
when so much time has gone by, and so few people who watch movies open a book nowadays, the original will cease to exist and be replaced by this half-assed Disneyfied version for most people. It will literally still exist but those kids who watch the movie will never open it and will just assume it's "more or less the movie, right?" and that it's as good as read. Which is a crime. Not really. The argument is still valid: The original is not harmed. They still have the same gem to discover someday.
I'm just disappointed because they could have done much better(Sigh) Isn't that always the case? share
The problem is that this movie has very little to do with The Little Prince. Heck, it almost shoots The Little Prince story in the face by having an unnecessary sequence where she has to explain to The Little Prince his own story. If the movie had stayed focused on the story "The Little Prince" I think it would've been a lot better.
Blehck, I just have so many mixed feelings on this movie -___-
[Spoiler Alert]
I think the title is quite fitting. The movie never tried to be a remake of the original story, but to complement it.
Basically, it shows how the book "the little prince" was created (the aviator is Antoine de Saint-Exupery himself).
I'm under the impression that most people who didn't like the movie didn't see it for what it really is. The important things are invisible to the eye, but sometimes this can be helped by giving adults numbers, facts and figures. So maybe you can take the movie for what it really is, instead of a bad remake you seem to see, after reading some background information here:

because the book is about the Little Prince...
ok, adult
It was disappointing. I just want to see the book come to freaking life, is that too much to ask! I don't want to cut away from my favorite story to have to bother with another story line that I have to just patiently watch till I can see the scenes with the little prince. SMDH
