Why doesn't Elisabeth Sparkle have any friends or relatives?

Odd for somone who is supposed to be mega famous and has a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

No one visits her or is worried about her going missing?

Thats LA for ya!

Nice reply but it's the biggest flaw in the movie.

I spent more brainpower wondering why she lived in a one bedroom/one bathroom apartment. Hell of a view, but c'mon...

reply

i'd live there in a heartbeat with that view!

Nanook, I entertained the possibiity she has other properties outside the city but I cannot fathom why there's no one else in her life except her other self.

Celebreties are often really lonely in private life while they are always surrounded by hundreds of people during work/shows.
Michael Jackson had a huge family and was the King of music but did he complain but lonliness.
Britney Spears wrote in her book that she was often really lonely and even had social anxiety.
And think about all the celebreties who died because of too much drug use.
They were all alone at that time they took too much.

And about ur point if she was not missed by ageny or sth like that:
She was forced to be retiring. So he actually had no work anymore.

Nina, not one person. Not one. Even Michael Jackson had his chimp, and Elizabeth Taylor.

reply

Yeah, and Cindy or whomever assistant or agent assigned to her would wonder where she went even if she had no real friends and lived a lonely life with no studs hitting on her let alone other celebrity males.

reply

True

Maybe it was on purpose to highlight her feeling of loneliness, the feeling that "her days are over". It's clear that the director exaggerates everything she wants to convey to the audience (and this film is full of exaggerations).

I would also have preferred to have shown us someone in her life. At least, when Elisabeth woke up, she would hear messages from friends/family left on her voicemail, email, etc. I think it would have enriched the story.

Even the maid we saw briefly disappeared.
