The opposite of woke and still flopped?
I thought you people wanted more movies like this?
Or maybe it's a loud, chronically online minority that complains about wokeness.
Don't get woke, go broke?

I think movies, in general, are just not attracting audiences to the theaters like they used to for a litany of reasons beyond just overt political messaging. The real killer with this film is that it's just so long and not a full-story, so audiences will have a harder time connecting with it. That's how my buddy I watched it with and I felt anyway, and we're both not fans of post-2000 movies for the most part. It had a lot of good scenes, but would have made for a much better TV series than an actual movie to have to sit and watch for 3+ hours.
shareI swear I kept thinking the same thing when the trailer first dropped. This looks like a tv miniseries.
shareThat just removes a barrier of entry but that doesn't mean people will see a movie if they're not interested or don't think seeing it in a theater vs streaming is worth it. Especially now.
shareWe (the anti-Wokes) do want movies like this. The problem is that it doesn't look like a must-see movie and people don't feel like going to the theater any more, especially not for 3+ hour movie. I think most people are waiting to watch it on streaming.
I still might see it in the theater, but I'm in no rush.
