(Maybe Spoilers) The whole psychic set up of the film is unbelievable

We've all seen psychics like John whats-his-name that had that show and was parodied on South Park. We've even seen illusionists like Criss Angel. But I've never seen what this movie tries to play off as "normal":

Psychics who are also illusionists

Psychics who are also healers

Psychics who do illusion and healing shows

Psychics who make the front page of a newspaper after an interview show that he wasn't even personally involved in (ridiculous to see a psychic on the front page over he said/she said drama, period)

...This whole premise was the film's downfall. It's no wonder it went straight to video. There were plenty of other problems, but this one sets up everything else about the film to fail.

i agree, none much of it made any sense.

Just when I thought I found all the flaws, others find more! Good point about the stupid front-page story. That dumb overblown interview (not very realistically done, btw) gets a huge front-page layout as if someone
killed themselves on Oprah. Ridiculous! The entire idea of the major news media giving a big crap about all this was stupid, including the umbrella scene, as if they'd all be lined up that way. Dumb dumb dumb

I don't see the first three points as failings of them film because I don't accept your premise that the movie called psychics healers, illusionists, etc. What I remember them specifically saying is that they prove paranormal activity and those who claim to be mediums of it as frauds. This could easily include both healers, illusionists, and psychics. They were not exclusively hunting psychics as far as I could tell.

Seriously? With the pandering and pedestrian nature of the media in general (and dying newspapers specifically) today, nothing would surprise me. Take for example when Oprah tearily announced she was ending her show, that made *beeping* headlines around the world. Plus any time some strung-out little starlet crashed her Benz into a telephone pole (while wearing someone else's pants) we get to hear all about that ad nauseum... I wouldn't put anything past the news media these days...

something terribly clever.

Criss Angel is an entertainer, a trickster, and we see his work as such.

The difference start when they put God in the middle of it. I notice the OP makes no mention of this.
