Conflicting opinions

A quick view of the board and I've come to the [loose] conclusion that there are two groups of viewers.
1) Those that enjoyed the content, but hated the ending
2) Those that enjoyed the ending, but hated the content

I thought the premise was brilliant, the casting was 75% on the ball and the ending was sad, dark, very, very poetic. I thought the main body of the movie was extremely questionable and didn't support the intention of the ending.
I can understand why people enjoyed the majority of the film and thought the ending ruined it, because the ending didn't entirely make all the sense. However, as I say, I loved the premise and the ending, it was the contradictory content in the middle that I didn't appreciate.

Thoughts?
