Question about fight scene at the end (spoilers)

I'm trying to understand the film... From another thread, the idea I'm getting is that Silver, a fraud psychic, knows Buckley is a real psychic and trying to get him to expose his powers.

Is that what the fight was about? Silver asks his goon to beat up Buckley to expose powers?

Seemed pretty long and unnecessary scene...

Is Silver's whole coming out of retirement a big scam to expose Buckley?

No. Silver doesn't know Buckley was a real psychic, because at the end when Buckley did all the magics (lights goes off, eartquake, etc) and when buckley throw a coin. Silver says "how did you do that?". so i assume that Silver doesn't know Buckley was a real psychic.

Its actually Tom in control of the entire thing, fight and pretty much everything except Margs death. But yes...Silver knows Tom has powers.

The fight wasnt Silver telling a goon to get Tom angry or beat him up. The fight was about what was happening the rest of the movie...Toms powers trying to remind him of who he is. Obviously it took a beating to face himself. Silver presents a need, a pressure to do it now. So the process gets more hostile to him.

Some say its open to interpretation but its really not when you see everything that hints at it and hear all the dialogue clearly forecasting it.
