SOUNDTRACK....love it

Why is the soundtrack not listed on IMDB...?

Who did that GIRL IS BAD song when Clive was in the bar and Marion came by him...?

I have seen worse films...surprised it bombed and went to DVD right away...anyone know why?

Hello

I posted another thread saying the film was worth it alone for that one song you mention !

It's Lee Moses - Bad Girl

I downloaded it straight away and can't stop playing it

I liked this film more than most of the people I see writing here, but the Soundtrack was a problem for me. At best, it followed the template of Martin Scorcese's crime films which is what a hundred other films have done, with a couple inspired period-specific song choices.

Worse, it followed Scorcese too closely – two songs also used in Goodfellas, and how the hell are you gonna compete with Goodfellas. Cream's "Sunshine of your Love" plays while slowly zooming in on Louis (Mark Mahoney) puffing on a cigarette as he plans some killing ... sort of like in Goodfellas when Cream's "Sunshine of your love" plays while slowly zooming in on Jimmy (Robert Deniro) puffing on a cigarette as he plans some killing. It's not like this is the first time Goodfellas has been ripped off, but in this case it was just distracting. (Mark Mahoney had a great presence, btw.)

Worst of all was when Marion Cotillard goes to score some heroin and Velvet Underground's "Heroin" starts playing. They couldn't have gotten more cliche if they tried. I felt this brought the film down a notch.

Yep, the soundtrack is one of the best I've heard in at least a year.

One big massive flaw, though. While it says "1974" in big numbers on the screen, they are playing "New York Groove" by Ace Frehley from 1978. That was from the solo LP when each member of KISS released a solo album. Now before someone gets all technical on me, "oh, Steve...it was written by Ross Ballard in 1975".
I get that, but 1975 was after 1974; and it's Ace's version on the film, making it 1978. Just thought I'd point that out. Especially since it's the OPENING of the film!!!

Also, why isn't the ST listed here????

Agree completely about the soundtrack. Absolutely loved it. I just finished the movie and wanted to post about the soundtrack because it really stood out to me. The movie itself kind of sucks you in and forces you to keep watching. The characters all seemed pretty real to me, except maybe Clive Owen's role. Not quite as in depth as the others...complicated, but I never really understood why he did anything. I'm going to have to make myself a copy of the soundtrack, though. Great music.
