Realistic Gritty New York Sets, Props and Locations
They did a great job authenticating the gritty feel of Brooklyn from the early 70's. Every location from Greenpoint to Flatbush was done up with unmistakable props and sets almost flawlessly. I grew up in the Bronx and now live in Brooklyn and the areas they used were perfect because they hardly changed since the 80's as far as I can remember. I was exposed to Manhattan and Brooklyn as early as the late 70's when I was about 11.
Even the street signs were done up like how they used to look. The only flaw I witnessed was in Grand Central Station - in the background you see the phones on the wall - they are yellow. The old wall phones back in the day were always black - up until about the late 90's when Verizon took over (I think).
