I'm sorry, I cannot agree...

This wasn't a bad or even mediocre movie. It was sufficiently interesting and multi-dimensional to be a good movie. Other than the cheesy ending, I think it deserved at least an average 7 or even 7.5 on this board.

The plot, while plausible, was not that predictable. There were several things you almost didn't see coming. For instance, that Frank would risk his police career, not to mention his life, to re-connect with Vanessa. Or that Chris is the OLDER brother, or after the robbery he would set up, of all things, a brothel and not lay low. Or that he morphed from a loser who just happened to have been locked up from making poor choices to a cold-blooded murderer. Also, the closeness between both brothers and their sister. There is usually too much machismo to involve a sister.

The cinematography was really good, if not exceptional. They did capture the look and feel New York during that time period.

The critics panned this movie because that's their due. They get paid to watch and assess movies. We are not critics. This movie was very good.

I agree as well. I thought it was an excellent movie, was realistic of the 70's. And the family dynamic was interesting.

Another up vote for the film, good story with real grit. The family Thanksgiving and Christmas scenes were a treat, the dynamic between the brothers, all good stuff. Even all the 1970s cars filling the streets, but the no -scratch car chase was kind of amusing.

I disagree, I was very disappointed with this film. I gave it a 6 and I feel that's a bit generous.
