How old is everyone suppose to be in this move? What age is Maverick and Goose son?

Tom Cruise / Maverick was 24 years old

Top Gun 2 was shot in 2018 so let give it that date. Its been 32 years since the events of first movie when Goose died. And they showed flashbacks that had alive Goose and his son age around 7. So Miles Teller character (Goose son) in real life should be around 40 years old.

Miles Teller was 31 years old during filming.

Tom Cruise was 56 during filming. He would be too old to be test pilot for expensive new planes. His body would not handle it. They would hire 25 years old.

All ages are just off and all over the place. Because it really feels like movie pretended that Maverick was like 45-47 years old and Goose son to be 26 years old.
