Is it even worth the rental? I like SJP but man, people are tearing this film to shreds.

No (it's not that bad). It's a fairly standard chick flick. Not breaking any new territory. But there are far worse movies than this. People (critics too) seem to pick a certain movie (or movies) and pile on to them. Anything with Ben Affleck, SJP, Julia Roberts...seems to get a lot of hate from people.

its worse, kind of like how misguided sex and the city 2 was, it seems she has lost touch with normal people.

Not really. It is probably what you expect it to be.If you like SJP you will probably enjoy it.
Compared to the SATC movies, I would say it is on the same level as the first one, or slightly better. IMO it does not even compare to SATC2 which was really crap.

I would say it's a good rental. I certainly wouldn't pay to see this in the theater. I enjoyed it. It's not going to win any awards, but it's a good movie to watch at home, in sweats (lol)

Depends what you like. It's a great movie in its genre.
