Will any audience care about bourgeois problems during a recession?

I doubt it.

I mean, seriously. Look at SJP's list of tasks on the movie's poster, right on the imdb page. They are privileges, not obstacles. Screw this movie and its delusional attitude toward the upper-middle class.

Before I reply to your comment, I'll just say that your ID Name is hilarious.

Also, you make a good point.
This movie is most likely just for SATC fans. Easy money made...blah blah ^^

Keep in mind, it's not quite the same luxury anymore to go to films/musicals.

Moreover, it's not so much that people won't go to the movies, but this particular 'fantasy' is just too stupid. Let's just forget the whole recession thing, even if all was perfect, this movie is going to be sh*t. lol.

This movie is aimed at the upper middle class. The target audience seems to be women who were fans of Sex and the City in the late 90s and early 2000s when they were in college or in their 20s who are now grappling with marriage and motherhood. Of course one of the main complaints against Sex and the City 2 was that audiences were disgusted by the idea that we were supposed to sympathize with a wealthy married mother of two feeling overwhelmed and trapped despite having a housekeeper and a nanny.

SJP keeps playing herself. She a rich woman who can't think of anything rewarding to do with her life! I mean she keeps taking the same role instead of something challenging! She can do a workshop or theater work or help acting students. Damn it's not like she needs the money!

"It's like yelling at babies for not changing their own diapers!"

I don't know anything about the movie, but I totally disagree with this comment. Looking at the tasks, they aren't bourgeoisie privileges, but more everyday ones: do laundry, pack lunches, scrub bathroom, get car serviced, vacuum rug, make kids lunches, fix the leak etc. How are these upper-class problems?

Like I said, I don't know anything about the movie but based solely on the poster I can't see your point.

Agreed. This movie should be replaced with the story from "The Help," minus the white main character who saves the day.

reply

Don't waste your money on this movie. Don't let your wife or girlfriend talk you into take her. What a waste of talent. SJP needs to fire her agent. she's been in a lot of crap as of late.

reply

she's been in a lot of crap as of late.

Of late?! She's never done anything worth watching period. The only thing she might be good at is if they make a movie of the '60s TV show Mr. Ed, whereby she would play the horse!

Remember that Americans believe the whole world is centred on their country. We had no recession in Australia. See it's like when aliens invade in a movie, they attack America and that's supposed to be a global invasion. It's the same with the GFC, firstly it's so typically American to make it an acronym, secondly the use of the word 'Global' because it's happening to America, which they think means the whole world.
