Just seen the original...
Just seen the original one. Come on!! Please don't do this. You're messing up a beauty. It's the same as drawing stuff in a Picasso.

shareAgreed. The original is perfect. But Hollywood can't come up with new ideas so it's either sequel or a remake nowadays. Guess they're sick of sequels. :D
*Carpe diem. Seize the day, boys. Make your lives extraordinary.*
Also, the original film being from Argentina is very specific the recent Argentina history.
An American re-make has nothing new to offer.
Sadly, what it has to offer is a big-name cast and the chance to make a truckload of money for the studio by appropriating one of the best international thriller screenplays of the previous decade. Director Juan Jose Campanella, who himself has "gone Hollywood" in recent years, should at least have been offered the chance to remake his own classic.
The only upside is that Billy Ray (Shattered Glass, Breach) is also a fine director who needs more exposure. If he handles the remake with the same intelligence and finesse with which Campanella infused the original, it may not be the disappointment everyone seems to expect.
In a recent interview, Campanella said he saw the trailer and liked what Billy Ray did with it and liked the cast. He also said that he was contacted by producers and agreed on the totally new plot that involves racial issues. So I believe, apart from the main characters, we will have a completely different thriller movie. I'm also confident when it comes to Ray who has a nice resumé as a writer and director.

Actually guys, Campanella has 'gone Hollywood' long before the making of 'El secreto de sus ojos' (2009). He's been directing chapters of 'Law and Order' and 'House', among many others, since the late '90s.
He usually works both in Argentina and the US as a writer, producer and director of series, long feature films and theatre plays. He is also a very well known artist in the Hollywood community and, in fact, 'El secreto…' is his second Oscar-nominated film (the first was 'Son of the bride' (2001)).
I haven't checked, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was part of the production in this remake… Yup, he is executive producer (just checked) so my guess is that he himself decided not to be part of this movie as director.
I dislike remakes in general, but what is the point of remaking a film 5 years since its release? I really annoyed that this film is using the same title(probably because that is the only thing that it will have in common with El secreto de sus ojos, because the synopsis looks different).
The only thing keeping you from being happy is the belief that you are alone
I'm guessing they're keeping the title purely because they paid for the remake rights and threw absolutely everything else out. It feels awfully reminiscent of when Warners were planning on remaking The Searchers, then decided to make it as a Bruce Willis scifi film and by the time it got through the development process it ended up as Edie Murphy's Adventures of Pluto Nash.
"Security - release the badgers."
I want to believe this is a joke.
tell me that thıs ıs not a remake of el secreto de sus ojos?
Hollywood try to use your brain and imagination stop doing remakes.
