Average movie

I think 6/10 is fair for this movie. The actings were good.I think Julia Roberts did a great job in portraying the mom.

1.However,I find the lead character stupid at times for an FBI agent. Why did he have to shout before trying to capture the suspect every *beep* time? Why not sneak towards him slowly and just catch him off guard?Do FBI agents do that?Start shouting and running to let them know they're chasing. How brilliant !lol

2.The lead character hitting on Nicole Kidman's character is pretty realistic. However,I don't find it realistic that Claire had shown some glimpses of returning the favour. Some women know their way around men and lots of them likes to flirt with men whom they know are interested in them.Claire seemed to be that kind of girl, and quite realistic even with racial differences. But ,what really annoys me is that when Ray got into Nicole's house, her boyfriend gave a kind of sarcastic remark indicating that he trusted Claire but at the same time made it look like Claire had always this thing for Ray and the restaurant scene in which Claire told Ray was always slow as if she actually had a thing for him.If they're going to go that road, they should've casted other actors imo.Totally unbelievable.!!!

....REASONS...
#Nicole's too hot for Chiwetel and it just takes away the credibility. If they shown it as a one sided affair,it's alright. But they hinted that Claire also had some feelings with instances like peeping through the curtain, the restaurant scene etc. which is pretty unrealistic imo.If Ray was the boss,it makes more sense, but that wasn't the case.If that love affair was to happen amongst co-workers ,some white guys would definitely try to court with Claire too.Jess said that Ray was laughed at by others .Even his boss told him to stay away from her.Should be just that way.Don't show Claire acting awkward in front of Ray,peeping through the window to watch him, told him he's slow as if she was actually going to say yes etc.

#If Nicole was Claire in real life,I think Bumpy,Siefert and many agents would be hiting on Claire and I don't think Claire would have any kind of feelings for Ray.Way too much to make interracial relationship to work. It wasn't like Ray was the smartest, more like the dumbest though bold which plenty of women admire. But ,I still think it's too much to make that believable. So,that love interest didn't let me enjoy the movie as much as I wanted to.

3.I haven't seen the original, neither have heard the story before. And I don't have any indifference to the main actors whatsoever.
So, my take on this is that Julia Roberts did a really great job.
Both Nicole and Chiwetel were average.Even though not bad,the romantic angle totally ruined it for me.Just my opinion though.

4.The cast did pretty much what they're supposed to do.Where this movie fails lies on the film makers part.I don't know whom to blame.Maybe the director, editor?I don't know.
The story didn't have a potential to be like 'Seven' but I think it had a potential to be at least 'Fracture' which is rated at 7.2/10 here. With better direction and storytelling, this movie has a potential to have a rating of just below 8/10 but it surely disappoints. 6/10 seems fair to me.

I agree that the movie was average. I also gave it a 6. It just moved too slow for me and a lot of scenes could have been deleted.

As for the relationship, I think their relationship is totally believable in terms of working around someone daily and the thrill of being with someone others may not expect you to be with. As a woman, speaking for myself, it can be somewhat enjoyable and also a turn on when a man is attracted to you and you are already in a situation that may not be to your liking. To have someone bend over backwards like a school boy can be somewhat endearing, if not down right se*y (wasn't sure if I was allowed to typed the full word). Anyway, we never got the sense that she
was that ga-ga over her current man/boyfriend/husband. It was almost as if that
dude didn't exist. Interracial relationships can become exciting regardless of one being more attractive or smarter or whatever. Sometimes, it's right place, right time.

Now, what I will say was unbelievable was the timing. They never allowed us to get a sense of any chemistry. They just kinda threw them in our face with no build-up or anything other than a look. We didn't get a chance to see them develop and honestly, they didn't show us much of a relationship. It was all inferred. So for that reason I'd say it was unbelievable. But not because she may have been "too hot" for him or because of race. BTW, Nicole was never really all that pretty to me. Interesting looking yes, but not a drop-dead gorgeous woman. And I've seen Chewitel (sp) look better in other roles. He looked too haggard in this one.
