Ejiofor's character - complete idiot, medially speaking

Shouting at his colleagues, hitting his colleagues, hitting suspects, shouting at suspects, getting colleagues killed, compromising crime scenes, breaking into people's houses without a warrant, terrible at questioning, touching things he shouldn't be touching without putting on gloves, getting the suspect wrong, holding his colleague's hand romantically whilst arriving at the crime scene...

He is the worst detective I've seen in cinema and TV combined, that I can remember. Can't believe the writer of this was nominated for an Oscar a few years back. Such a bad job adapting this.

Yeah, pretty bad. They shoehorned the political aspects of the story in too hard here also.

Maybe he lost his investigative precision after spending 13 years running Mets security, that coupled with his feeling of guilt about Jess's daughter.

Ha!  You idiot! He got the Oscar for writing the exact same character in the movie he adapted THIS from! In the movie he got the oscar for, his protagonist character does ALL the exact same things you are complaining about!

How stupid could you be?! 
