Was it ever explained how Jess actually captured Marzan without anyone else finding out about it before holding him captive for 13 years? Sorry if this was obvious but I just didn't catch an explanation for this.
how Jess actually captured Marzan without anyone else finding out about it before holding him captive for 13 years?
Good question! Technically, a 100% percent validated description of how she did it was not given, but in the apocryphal flashback that she recounts to Ray and Claire (and is shown to us, the audience): one night she runs up on him in a parking lot as he is putting something in the trunk of his car, she knocks him out with a blow to the back of the head with an ASP baton, and he is placed in the trunk. The flashback later shows her presumably shooting him dead in the open trunk of the car that is now near a passing train, but we know that this part of the tale was a deception as he was actually imprisoned by her, not executed.
But, I guess we might assume that the actual capture happened as she initially described.

That's a very good point! I dismissed that whole sequence since we learn that Jess never shot Marzan in the trunk of his car even though she still could have done everything else beforehand to get him trapped. I guess we can only assume that's how she got him and that she was lucky no one noticed her waiting for him in the parking lot or even suspected she might be following him.
