Foreign vs. Amerrorcan

I haven't scene the original, but since it has high rating and I hate a chance to watch the remake I did, but I shouldn't have because I didn't find it very good.

Then I thought about all American remakes, are any better than the original Foreign movie?

Here are some opinion results on IMDb, Original Foreign rating first, then American remake.

Solaris (1972): 8.1, Solaris (2002): 6.2 - I found the original to dry to watch, but the remake wasn't that great.

The Wicker Man (1973): 7.6, The Wicker Man (2006): 3.7 - I like the original, a good creepy mystery, the remake I quit watching after half an hour, very different style and didn't find it to be a good story.

Funny Games (1997): 7.6, Funny Games (2007) 6.5 - I found both to be almost identical and liked them the same.

Oldboy (2003): 8.4, Oldboy (2013): 5.8 - I thought the original was played when yet the second was done very poorly, it felt like I was reading a kids comic book instead of a hard cover mystery book.

District B13 (2004): 7.2, Brick Mansions (2014): 5.7 - The original has great action and for the lead actors acceptable acting with a decent moral, the remake I quit after twenty minutes because it felt like they only cared about the action and completely over doing it.

Starbuck (2011): 7.3, Delivery Man (2013): 6.4 - I thought the original was a wonderful film of emotion and it never should have been remade, so I never plan on watching the remake.

These are fair in rating, but aren't same

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009): 7.8, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011) 7.8 - I have only seen the remake I thought it was very good.

Infernal Affairs (2002): 8.1, The Departed (2006): 8.5 - I like the original more, it felt like more of a realistic story. The remake was more of an entertainment movie.

I was so excited to watch Funny Games that my friend found it online before the latest version hit the theater. Only it was the original. Only it wasn't in English. Dutch or something. Didn't matter I didn't understand, so we put on subtitles. Only they were in French. LOL!
I met Michael Pitt from Funny Games and hung out with him for a few days while he was in town shooting a movie and a video. I am kicking myself for not having him sign a golf club!
