Well...
a. Ray was asking around the office, if anyone "knew WHOthe kid" was. NOT...IF his face looked vaguely familiar to them? He specifically wanted to know who he was and who brought him. No one...except Siefert...knew exactly who the kid was. He was just some kid at the party. Ray was asking for positive identification.
b. A grand mosque can hold over 10,000 kneeling/standing congregants. Assuming Marzin wasn't even a regular attendee (as his secular lifestyle might attest) why would anybody recognize him out of EVERY face that EVER went to prayers in there? Especially if he wasn't wearing that silly little cap that muslims wear.
c. I'm not sure every cop in that room was solely concerned with that mosque. The district attorney implied that Ray had many counter terrorism leads he should be pursuing. We only see four people roll-out to investigate a murder near the mosque. If they were ALL concentrating only on that mosque then why not take the whole office and roll deep?
d. Even Ray, who is highly motivated, doesn't really "recognize" Marzin as someone from the Mosque. It took facial recognition software, sifting through god knows how big a database of pics, to pick him out as a someone from the mosque.
On November 6, 2012 god blessed America...again.
