Will this work as a feature?

For the record, I adored the series and thought it was ridiculously funny. However, it was simply Rob and Steve eating and doing impressions at each other with a few walks across British beauty spots chucked in every now and then and melancholy endings.

This was fine, when you were coming back for another half hour episode after a week but I can't see how that's going to be particularly gripping as a feature length film.

This is a spoiler I suppose... they just go on The Trip and come back, we see how Rob has the better and more important things in life such as a family and children whilst drugs and womanising bring no happiness to Steve but this is learnt through a narrative that is quite repetitive and little else happens.

What are people's thoughts?

I just saw it last night. It definitely works as long as you accept that the movie simply is two actors on a road trip talking amongst themselves. I had never seen the series (which may be why I thought it worked) so I have no basis for comparison. However, under the surface of all the bantering (which all is very hilarious), the movie really does a good job of providing character depth for both men.

great banter! agree.

Oh, and remember, next Friday is Hawaiian shirt day.

Yeah, it could've been edited better. I was confused why there were so many scenes of food being cooked. Seemed unnecessary. Also, I've never heard so much non-stop dialogue and felt like I missed so many jokes because I didn't have time to respond. Editing was choppy and the movie felt rushed.

But anyway, I enjoyed the movie. Plus, I hardly ever watch TV and probably wouldn't bother watch this for a long time if this stayed as a TV series.

Saw this in a theatre here in Boston this past Sunday and absolutely loved it. It definitely isn't for everyone but what film is?

The humor is of the type that particularly appeals to me so I was sold from the trailer on You Tube.

The audience we saw it with was smallish but seemed very appreciative and also quite diverse from the looks of us. All ages and ethnics groups.

Its available on demand from Comcast but I really wanted to see it in a theatre.

I recommended it to a few people I work with but most I am afraid wouldn't really enjoy it as there are no boobs, crash chases/crashes or gunshots. I don't mean that to sound as pejorative as it probably does but I do think American audiences are turned off by films that are mainly dialogue however witty.

I have only seen the series, but it's not cinematic at all and there isn't a plot so I'm not sure how it could work as a film.

Typical English fare, lots of personal dialogue, but intriguing story, nicely filmed, talented actors. If you're a fan of low key British films, you'll like it, as a series, I would say it would get very repetitive.
