Completely aside from the film and its subject (enjoyable mimicry; a bit repetetive)we were struck by the beauty of the countryside.(We've only been to South England.)If any of you know this w/o going to alot of trouble, would you plse tell me the names of the places/counties they went; and do you know what time of year(jan/feb?)Are there any English magazine articles that mapped their route? I would love to follow in their footsteps. Thanks much.

The places are all in the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales area. They were:
1. Whitewell Inn, near Clitheroe, Lancashire 2. L'Enclume, Cartmel, near Grange-Over-Sands 3. Holbeck Ghyll, near lake Windermere in the Lakes 4. Hipping hall, Cowan Bridge, Carnforth 5. The Yorke Arms, Ramsgill-in-Nidderdale, near pateley Bridge near the Yorkshire Dales. 6.The Angel at Hetton, near Skipton, North Yorkshire
I am not sure. I think you are probably right about Jan/Feb. I am actually an Australian who loves the history and scenery in the UK. Have been over there quite a few times starting from the nineteen seventies. I certainly haven't seen any snow in the Yorkshire Dales or Lake District when I have been there, but have never been there in Jan/Feb. I was up there in November/December once; no snow on the hills; just really cold. I am going to that area in October so after we saw the film yesterday, we checked out all the places on the net and hopefully we will eat at some of them.

Sort-of.
Holbeck Ghyll and Hetton are the only ones within the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks, whilst Ramsgill, Cowan Bridge and Cartmel are just outside the boundaries (though near enough ;) ). However, Whitewell is well outside either, in the Forest of Bowland.
jesse- that's one KEEN set of eyes you have there! thx so much. Our only visit to england was all in the south, in the last 2 wks of march; will not make that gloomy mistake again!maybe we'll be lucky enough to do sept next time.

Thanks. I have no idea why I noticed or remembered it. I think I was thinking about how strange it was, on his wall. It looked like the type of calendar display on a computer, but there it was wall-mounted on his swank condo wall. If you watch this again, you'll undoubtedly notice it. Glad it was of use to someone.
