Drug use?

I'm thinking about taking my 14 year old cousin to this, but as it is unrated it has been difficult to find out if it would be appropriate. What concerned me most is that the NY Times mentioned that opium and pot are smoked. How is that dealt with in the film. I figure that it's probably fairly minor, but I just wanted to make sure. Otherwise being British I'm expecting a fair amount of swearing, but is there anything else that might be objectionable for a young teen? Or do you think that the subject matter wouldn't interest a 14 year-old boy? He's very smart and into british comedy.

There is no one using opium. Coogan briefly smokes a joint, and someone mentions having a line of cocaine but it's not actually shown. And there isn't much swearing either.

Yes, ingestion of the cocaine is shown in a shot showing the back of the user bent over toward the sink countertop in the standard way of illustrating snorting "a line". But you don't see the powder or the nose from this angle.

Steve smokes a joint in one scene and Rob declines. They talk about opium/laudanum in connection to Samuel Taylor Coleridge, who apparently used laudanum; I thought he'd used opium, but the local tour guide said no. A minor character does cocaine, unseen, and offers it to Steve who turns her down.

Steve does hook up with two women he meets, though nothing besides each woman slipping out of his room, is shown.
