lol, agreed...admittedly tho, whether it's all b.s. or not, i've always been fascinated by the story of the defeo family, the murders, and the lutz family and their "experience(s)" at the house. idk, maybe because i was little when the book/movie came out and it scared the sh!t outta me (along with the original "carrie"). i read/watch it as an adult....terrible and painfully boring. i didn't mind the '05 remake tho, i thought they did a decent job making it what it is...a horror story/film.

still...sounds like someone just needed to make some extra cash.

There will always be questions and as long as they remain unanswered, the story will continue to generate interest.

Same here. It's the case that got me into the paranormal. And it's not just Amityville. Long Island is rich in supernatural lore. Native American tribes were slaughtered on the Island's soil. The guy that was mentioned in the remake, Ketchum, was based on a real man. And not too far from the property is the site of another famous haunting, the Seaford Poltergeist, which, along with the Black Hope Cemetery in Texas, formed the basis for the movie Poltergeist.

I think I read a bit about it in this old Halloween book I read when I was a kid called Ghosts, Witches, and Things Like That. I am pretty interesting in looking up more information on it.
